Light sculpture show dazzles at Yuci Ancient City in Shanxi

A light sculpture show dazzled audiences on Wednesday evening at the Wengcheng Site Park of Yuci Ancient City in Jinzhong, Shanxi province.

Light of Yungang Grottoes is a projection show that depicts local classic art motifs onto the ancient city's thousand-year-old walls. The performance is meant to empower cultural heritage with a fusion of modern light art and Shanxi's ancient architectural grandeur.

The performance was part of Discovering Shanxi's Ancient Chinese Architecture, a visual journey through cultural heritage recently launched by Shanxi Daily and China Daily. Following the opening ceremony, Chinese and international guests moved to the Wengcheng Site Park to witness the show. Earlier this year, during the 2026 Spring Festival, the work was staged as Yungang Grottoes Light: Echo in Paris along the banks of the Seine in France.
