BEIJING -- A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Friday refuted relevant allegations by the United States about the so-called "meddling in elections," noting them as completely groundless and malicious smears, which have long been proven to be nonsense.

Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to a related query.
