A diverse range of waterbirds has turned a wetland into a lively summer haven in Yueyang, Hunan province.

A photographer recently captured the daily routine of three types of waterbirds in the city's Yunxi district. Whiskered terns were observed nesting on floating vegetation, taking turns incubating eggs and guarding their nests. Flocks of egrets gathered along the water's edge, their white feathers accenting the verdant backdrop, Pheasant-tailed jacanas, affectionately known as "phoenixes on water", soared above the lily pads, their long tails trailing gracefully behind them.

This vibrant scene reflects the improving conditions of the wetland, which has become a dependable habitat for a variety of bird species.
