China slams US report smearing Beijing's intl cooperation
China expressed its firm opposition on Thursday to a report released by the National Endowment for Democracy, which is funded largely by the United States Congress, and pushed back against its smearing of China's foreign exchanges and international cooperation, as well as its hyping up of the "China threat theory".
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular news briefing that for a long time, the National Endowment for Democracy has been undermining other countries' governments, interfering in their internal affairs, inciting division and confrontation, and carrying out ideological infiltration under the guise of "promoting democracy".
It has long been notorious and despised by the international community, he added.
In fact, China always developed friendly cooperation with other countries on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, shared development opportunities with the world, and safeguarded international fairness and justice, Lin said.
"China is widely recognized as a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a defender of the international order," Lin added.
He urged relevant US institutions and individuals to correct their perception of China, abandon prejudice and arrogance, stop political manipulation, and pay more attention to their own country's affairs.
