Prime minister steps down in govt reshuffle
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko stepped down on Sunday as President Volodymyr Zelensky announced fresh changes to Ukraine's government, saying he had offered a new and important position to the former premier. Svyrydenko, who has served as Ukraine's economy minister, was named prime minister in July 2025 at the age of 39 after playing a lead role in securing a mineral agreement between Ukraine and the United States, seen as an important way of tying US interests to Ukraine's security. Svyrydenko said she had discussed the "next steps" with Zelensky, but did not provide further details.

Yoon sentenced to 2 years in prison
South Korea's former president Yoon Suk-yeol on Monday was sentenced to two years in prison for the political funds act violation linked to receiving illegal polling services, according to local media. The Seoul Central District Court handed down the prison sentence to Yoon, acknowledging that the former president received free opinion polls from self-proclaimed political broker Myung Tae-kyun on 14 occasions. The court confirmed that Yoon exerted influence over the general election nomination in return for Myung's support during the 2022 presidential election.

13 dead as truck carrying wedding guests crashes
A pickup truck carrying wedding guests was crushed between two trucks on a busy highway on Indonesia's main island of Java, killing 13 people and injuring five others, police said on Monday. The crash occurred on Sunday afternoon on the northern coastal highway near Kiajaran Kulon village of Indramayu Regency, as the group was returning home after attending a wedding in a neighboring village, local traffic police chief Undang Syarif Hidayat said. He said the victims were traveling in an open-bed pickup truck when the vehicle slowed and stopped near a median opening to make a U-turn on the highway when it was struck from behind by a wing-box truck.
