Temporary ban on helium exports
China has imposed a temporary ban on the export of helium under relevant provisions of its Foreign Trade Law, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Commerce on Friday. Jointly announced by the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs, the ban took effect on Friday. Helium is widely used in fields such as semiconductor manufacturing, optical fiber manufacturing, aerospace, low-temperature superconductivity research, and high-end welding and testing.
Yuan strengthens against greenback
The central parity rate of the yuan strengthened 47 pips to 6.7989 against the US dollar on Friday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.
