Meeting urges stepping up efforts in flood control
Premier Li Qiang chaired an executive meeting of the State Council, China's Cabinet, on Friday to step up efforts in flood control and disaster response.
The meeting emphasized the need to ensure flood control safety at major rivers and lakes, further improve the accuracy of monitoring and forecasting, and carry out swift evacuations of people to minimize casualties as much as possible.
It urged authorities at all levels to tighten emergency duty and shift arrangements, ensure that personnel, equipment and supplies are fully prepared, and carry out disaster relief, rescue operations and livelihood assistance swiftly and efficiently, sparing no effort to protect the lives and property of the people.
