Couple known as 'Ferry Guardians' nurture bird habitats in Chongqing

On the tranquil waters of the Pengxi River in Yunyang county, Chongqing, a couple known as the "Ferry Guardians" has dedicated decades to ferrying villagers and nurturing the local bird habitats.
For the past 42 years, Zhang Xiqian, the ferry operator, and his wife and assistant, Deng Shuying, have ensured that farmers reach markets, students get to school, and patients find their way to medical care.
