Dunhuang cultural event aims to deepen exchanges
OTTAWA — A cultural exchange event themed "Global Linking of Dunhuang Culture" was recently held in Ottawa.
Chinese Ambassador to Canada Wang Di said at the event that Dunhuang is a prime example of the integration of civilizations along the ancient Silk Road, and that Dunhuang culture has witnessed the harmonious coexistence of diverse civilizations, offering valuable insights to enhance understanding and deepen exchanges among civilizations today.
China is willing to work with Canada to enhance mutual understanding through cultural exchanges, promote people-to-people connectivity through dialogue among civilizations, and advance more practical outcomes in China-Canada people-to-people exchanges, Wang added.
Artists from the Gansu Performing Arts Group presented a performance inspired by music and dances depicted in the Dunhuang murals, recreating the splendor of the ancient Silk Road and the essence of Dunhuang art through artistic interpretation.
The event also featured a themed restoration display of Dunhuang cave relics and an immersive VR exhibition, allowing the audience to experience the profound heritage and vibrant charm of Dunhuang culture.
