Guangdong powering sound and lighting at World Cup
Most of the audio systems and stadium lighting fixtures at ongoing FIFA World Cup venues in the United States, Canada and Mexico are made in Guangdong, demonstrating the province's manufacturing strength and high-end capabilities in the field, a senior local business executive has said.
"And much of the lighting, audio equipment and stage special effects for large-scale events worldwide is now manufactured by Guangdong's cultural-tourism equipment industrial companies," Wang Ruixiang, chairman of Guangzhou Ruifeng Audio Technology Incorporation, said.
"In the performance equipment industry, lighting products manufactured in Guangdong account for more than 80 percent of the global market share," he said.
"From the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games to the Asian Games and National Games, Guangdong-based companies are behind the sound, lighting and stage design for the world's top large-scale events," Wang told visiting journalists who are now on a media tour in Guangdong province, a major economic and innovation hub.
Ruifeng is a major full-chain cultural industrial enterprise that specializes in large-scale entertainment events, innovative cultural tourism management, and sports event operations.
Wang said Guangdong's well-developed industrial chain ecosystem has created a uniquely favorable environment for local enterprises to increase their presence in the world's performance equipment sector.
Event organizers can reduce their organizational costs by more than 30 percent by using products made in Guangdong, he said.
Wang said the industry has now entered an era where "quality and service" are king, and Ruifeng's core competitiveness lies in the integrated scientific and technological innovation, product quality, as well as project delivery capabilities.
He said that in the internet era, information is transparent and consumers have abundant choices, leading to fierce cut-throat competition.
"Only companies and brands that can truly produce deliver affordable, safe, reliable, high-quality and cost-effective products can survive," he said.
Wang's company has previously provided services for such major events as the Beijing Olympic Games, the National Games and the Winter Olympic Games.
Ruifeng, established in 1997, has gradually evolved from an audio equipment manufacturer into a comprehensive cultural enterprise integrating stage lighting, cultural and creative planning, and overall event operation.
And it has now become a full-chain cultural industry leader that specializes in large-scale entertainment events, innovative cultural tourism management, and sports event operations thanks to the favorable investment climate and policy support in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Wang said.
