China vows developing ties with Honduras based on one-China principle
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday that China is "willing to further develop relations with Honduras on the basis of the one-China principle" and better benefit their peoples, adding that "Taiwan independence" separatists are doomed to fail.
He was speaking to debunk the Taiwan authorities' recent claim that Taiwan is open to restoring "diplomatic relations" with Honduras with no preconditions attached.
Guo said China has noticed that the government of Honduras had previously clarified the relevant issue, fully revealing the lies of the Lai Ching-te authorities.
"We would like to emphasize that the 'Taiwan independence' separatists run counter to the mainstream, lack public support, and are doomed to fail," he added.
Last month, the Foreign Ministry of Honduras clarified on social media that Honduras is not engaged in any official talks or official contacts with Taiwan authorities aimed at restoring "diplomatic relations".
