China calls on US, Iran to advance talks
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday that Beijing hopes the United States and Iran can further advance their negotiations and push for an early and comprehensive political settlement of the Iran issue.
He was responding to a question about the US' recent temporary lifting of sanctions against Iran.
"China has consistently taken the position that unilateral sanctions against Iran should be lifted at an early date," Guo said at a daily news briefing in Beijing.
"We hope that both the US and Iran will work together to effectively implement the memorandum of understanding they have signed, further advance their negotiations, and push for an early and comprehensive political settlement of the Iran issue," he said.
