Yuan weakens against greenback
The central parity rate of the yuan weakened 9 pips to 6.8175 against the US dollar on Monday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day. The central parity rate of the yuan against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
Work safety enhanced to bolster rail transport
Chinese railway operators have bolstered work safety to solidify safe rail transport. With the 25th national safe production month taking place in June, Houma Train Operation Section under China Railway Taiyuan Group optimized safety control measures at station areas within its jurisdiction, stepping up safety education and practical drills. Partnering with police stations and the local fire and rescue brigade, it organized a joint drill at Linfen Station, letting employees from multiple workshops, including track maintenance, communication, signaling and power supply, to improve their emergency handling capabilities and safeguard travel safety.
