MOC asks Japanese firms to urge Takaichi to rectify her remarks
The Ministry of Commerce appealed on Thursday to the Japanese business community to safeguard its own interests by urging the Japanese government to rectify its erroneous remarks on Taiwan, and to help restore the conditions necessary for the sound development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
The appeal came just days after the Japan Business Federation and other major economic groups led delegations to China for the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing earlier this week.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan have "severely damaged" the political foundation of bilateral relations and are inflicting serious harm on economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, He Yadong, a spokesman for the ministry, said at a news conference.
He called on the Japanese business community to act in its own interests and urge the Japanese government to "truly reflect and correct its mistakes" and create conditions for the healthy development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
He noted that China continues to expand high-level opening-up and is committed to building a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment.
"We are engaging in mutually beneficial economic and trade exchanges and cooperation with countries around the world, sharing development opportunities," He added.
