Postal sector reports steady growth
China's postal sector recorded stable growth in delivery volume in the first five months of 2026, data released by the State Post Bureau showed. From January to May, the postal sector handled 89.89 billion parcels, up 4.3 percent year-on-year. Out of these, express deliveries accounted for 82.87 billion parcels, growing 5.2 percent. By segment, intra-city express deliveries totaled 5.88 billion parcels, down 8.5 percent year-on-year, while inter-city deliveries reached 75.22 billion parcels, up 6.4 percent. International express deliveries as well as parcels bound for China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions hit 1.78 billion, up 7.4 percent year-on-year.
Equipment upgraded to improve transport
Chinese railway operators are continuously upgrading equipment to better safeguard rail transport. In line with the work, the Yuanping Track Division in Shanxi province launched a concentrated maintenance drive on the Beijing-Yuanping Railway. The 12-day operation focused on ballast cleaning, sleeper and ballast replacement, bridge bearing replacement, large machinery tamping and grinding. By adhering to safety standards and construction quality, it called on all personnel working on the front line to consolidate the safety foundation of the railway in order to ensure stable and smooth operations.
