Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday that Japan's neo-militarism has become a growing danger and threatens regional peace and stability, urging the international community to stay highly vigilant and firmly curb such moves.

Guo made the remarks at a regular news conference when asked whether China is concerned about deepening military cooperation between Ukraine and Japan, after Ukrainian drone companies reportedly sought to cooperate with Japan.

China has always believed that cooperation between countries should help promote regional peace and stability, Guo said.

In recent years, Japan has vigorously pushed forward "remilitarization", developed powerful medium and long-range offensive weapons, lifted restrictions on the export of lethal weapons, increased interactions with countries outside the region, expanded the scope of activities of its Self-Defense Forces, and sought to build a combat-ready operational system, he said.

Such moves, he added, are breaking through the constraints of Japan's Constitution, international law and regulations, and the principle of "exclusively defense-oriented policy".

Guo stressed that such actions also challenge the postwar international order and run counter to Japan's self-proclaimed image as a "peace-loving country".
