Leapmotor launches Lafa5 RHD at Hong Kong car show
Leapmotor is showcasing its right-hand-drive Lafa5 model at the 2026 International Automotive & Supply Chain Expo in Hong Kong, as part of the EV startup's efforts to speed up global expansion.
Cao Li, senior vice-president of Leapmotor, said Hong Kong plays a key role in the company's global expansion strategy.
At the ongoing expo, Leapmotor is presenting its full product lineup, including the C10, T03 and B10 models already on sale in Hong Kong, alongside the first public display of the A10, D99 and Lafa5 models.
The company said its portfolio now spans A- to D-segments across sedans, SUVs and MPVs.
The A10 compact SUV delivered more than 20,000 units in May, while the D99 flagship MPV is positioned at the premium end of the lineup.
The Lafa5, a global sporty coupe-style sedan, will be launched in Hong Kong at a starting price of HKD 249,900 ($31,884), with an early-bird price of HKD 239,900 for the first 30 customers.
Leapmotor said the Lafa5 is starting deliveries in Hong Kong and across 26 European markets this month, followed by launches in Australia and New Zealand in August.
Cao said the company is entering a new phase of development as cumulative deliveries reached 1.5 million units.
He said growth has accelerated sharply, with the first 500,000 vehicles taking 64 months, the second 500,000 taking 12 months, and the most recent 500,000 completed in just eight months.
The company said it delivered more than 80,000 vehicles globally in May, with total deliveries reaching over 260,000 units in the first five months of 2026.
Overseas shipments exceeded 20,000 units in May and more than 75,000 units year-to-date, surpassing full-year 2025 export volumes.
Leapmotor said its global footprint now spans more than 40 countries and regions, supported by over 2,000 sales and service outlets, including more than 950 overseas locations.
It has established production capacity across Europe and Southeast Asia, including facilities in Spain, Malaysia and Myanmar.
The company said it continues to advance its global strategy built on full-stack in-house development and cost-efficient manufacturing, positioning itself as a global smart EV maker focused on "technology accessibility and value".
