Dragon boat races in Changsha light up early festive spirit

On Sunday, the 10 qualified teams competed in an additional "Dragon King" event, where the top three teams received, in addition to their awards, a giant local fish as a special prize.

Beyond the races, the event featured folk performances, food markets, and live music, transforming the lakeside into an early carnival. The goal was to blend traditional dragon boat culture with modern festivities to attract younger visitors and boost local tourism, organizers said.
