Top political adviser calls for solid Xinjiang progress
China's top political adviser Wang Huning has called for solid strides in building a socialist modern Xinjiang during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, as he concluded a five-day fact-finding trip to the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Tuesday.
Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited Hami, Hotan and the 13th and 14th divisions of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
During the trip, he said that the 15th Five-Year Plan period is a critical phase for sustaining social stability and long-term peace and security in Xinjiang, marking a new starting point for the region's development.
He stressed that safeguarding social stability should remain the top priority, and urged efforts to strengthen and innovate social governance.
Vice-president pledges stronger ties with Belarus
China stands ready to work with Belarus in further aligning their respective development strategies and continue to explore cooperation potential in new areas, said Vice-President Han Zheng.
He made the remarks during a visit to Belarus from Saturday to Monday at the invitation of the Belarusian government.
During his stay in Minsk, he met separately with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Prime Minister Alexander Turchin and First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov.
