As China advances high-quality development and opening up, foreign diplomats see Guangdong province as a gateway to new opportunities in innovation, investment, and global economic cooperation.

The diplomats made the remarks at a provincial promotion conference on Monday in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, under the theme of "Set Sail for the 15th Five-Year Plan: China's Growth, World's Opportunity".

Argentine Ambassador to China Marcelo Suarez Salvia said Guangdong has long been at the forefront of China's reform and opening-up and remains one of the country's most important economic engines.

He noted that Guangdong is among Argentina's most significant provincial partners in China and has become a major destination for Argentine exports.

Looking ahead, he noted that innovation, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and green development are promising areas for deeper cooperation.

"Guangdong represents openness, innovation, and a forward-looking spirit," he said, expressing confidence that the ties between Argentina and Guangdong will continue to grow in the years ahead.

In a five-day trip beginning on Monday, 60 diplomats from 37 countries are scheduled to visit Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Zhongshan to take a firsthand look at the province's efforts in advancing Chinese modernization.

Turkiye's ambassador to China, Selcuk Unal, said that Guangdong stands as one of the most vital economic engines, not only for China, but for the entire world.

He highlighted the province's strengths in high-tech industries, sustainable development, and foreign trade, as well as the growing influence of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

According to Unal, trade between Guangdong and Turkiye reached $7.8 billion in 2025, accounting for nearly 15 percent of bilateral trade between the two countries.

The ambassador also noted that the cultural bridges connecting the two peoples are also strengthening rapidly.

"We are profoundly pleased by the appreciation shown to Turkish cuisine throughout the country, particularly in this province," he said.

"The powerful synergy in commercial and cultural fields continues to elevate our relations to new levels," he said.

Ambassador of the Republic of the Congo to China Mamina Cyprien Sylvestre said that the province's development — including in areas such as new technologies, artificial intelligence, infrastructures, green development, and public health — is a testament to the country's development.

China has demonstrated to the world that sustained economic growth requires long-term planning, targeted and efficient investment, a well-educated talent pool committed to putting national interests first, effective development strategies, and proven leadership, he noted.

He also praised the Belt and Road Initiative, noting that China has chosen to share the benefits of its development with the rest of the world through infrastructure and connectivity projects that have improved living standards across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania.
