Today, the world’s largest offshore converter station set off from Jiangsu province for Yangjiang, Guangdong province. Once installed offshore, it will become the energy hub for the Three Gorges Yangjiang Qingzhou 5 and 7 offshore wind farms. The fifteen-story-high giant does not generate power itself. It collects electricity from offshore wind turbines, converts it, and sends it ashore through about 90 km of submarine cables — like a “super heart” at sea.
