Judge in ex-first lady's case found dead

A South Korean judge who presided over the appeal trial of former first lady Kim Keon-hee's Deutsch Motors stock manipulation and other charges was found dead early on Wednesday, Yonhap News Agency reported. Shin Jong-oh, a judge at the Seoul High Court, was found in a flower bed near the court building in Seoul. A suicide note was found at the scene, and police are investigating the exact cause of death. A special counsel team on Monday appealed to South Korea's Supreme Court against an appellate court ruling that sentenced Kim, the wife of South Korea's former president Yoon Suk-yeol, to four years in prison over charges including stock manipulation and graft.

Ethiopia, Sudan accuse each other of attacks

Ethiopia and Sudan traded accusations on Tuesday, each claiming the other had violated its territory. The Ethiopian government on Tuesday rejected Sudan's recent accusation of drone strikes as "baseless". Sudan recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia after accusing Addis Ababa of a series of drone attacks that hit its international airport on Monday. Sudan's Foreign Minister Mohi El-Din Salem said in a statement on Tuesday that his country is "ready to enter into an open confrontation with Ethiopia". In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected Sudan's "baseless accusations".

2 killed and 3 injured in back-to-back shootings

A man shot five people, killing two, in back-to-back shootings on Tuesday at a shopping center and then an apartment building because he was angry over business dealings, police said. The first shooting happened just before 10 am at a shopping center in a neighborhood in a suburb north of Dallas, the police department said. When police arrived, they found four adults who had been shot. While they were investigating, another shooting was reported at an apartment complex roughly 6 kilometers away, and responding officers found a dead man inside one of the apartments.
