Labubu fridge resale prices nearly double ahead of launch
Resale listings for a Labubu-themed refrigerator have surged to nearly double its retail price days before its official debut.
On secondary online marketplace Xianyu, some early listings for the limited-edition fridge have climbed to nearly 10,000 yuan ($1,465), up from the official retail price of 5,999 yuan.
Chinese collectibles giant Pop Mart announced on April 24 that it will launch the Labubu-themed refrigerator—part of its "The Monsters" IP universe — at 22:00 on April 30 on JD.com. The product, referred to as the "Labubu Fridge," marks the company's first foray into the home appliance category.
According to the company, the refrigerator will be available in two versions — "Home" and "House of the Monsters" — with total global sales capped at 999 units. Each unit will carry a unique serial number.
