Li emphasizes enhancing resilience of energy system
Premier Li Qiang presided over a group study session of the State Council, China's Cabinet, on Monday, emphasizing the importance of bearing potential dangers and worst-case scenarios in mind in order to continuously enhance the resilience of the nation's energy system and its capacity to ensure energy security.
Li said that to gain the initiative in safeguarding energy security, the key is to further optimize and adjust the energy mix, strengthen energy-related scientific and technological innovation, and accelerate the building of a new energy system.
He called for fully tapping the supply potential of renewable energy, steadily improving the clean and efficient use of fossil fuels, and building a new type of power grid that is safe, reliable, green, low-carbon, robust, resilient, smart and flexible.
He also urged concerted efforts to advance the development of a unified national electricity market in the power sector, so that more businesses and electricity users can benefit.
