Why China can withstand a Middle East oil shock

As conflict in the Middle East rattles oil markets, green energy is once again seen as the safer alternative — and China is leading the way. However, for years, Western media has covered up China's green progress with bias.

Here are the facts you should know:
• 2025: China's wind & solar capacity surpassed coal-fired power capacity for the first time.
• China invested $50B+ in solar — 10× Europe — cutting global costs.
• China's per capita emissions ≈ half of the US's.
• The US remains the largest cumulative emitter.
• About 20% of China's emissions come from producing goods for global consumption.
• China hit its 2030 wind & solar target six years in advance.
• In 2024, China contributed nearly 2/3 of global new renewable capacity.
• China now accounts for about 2/3 of global EV sales.

So calling China "the world's biggest polluter" may be technically true. But without context, it's also deeply misleading. Climate change is a global challenge — not a narrative contest. The world doesn't need selective storytelling. It needs solutions.
