Top legislator calls for more growth points in cooperation with New Zealand

China's top legislator Zhao Leji called on China and New Zealand on Monday to create more growth points in cooperation and welcomed more New Zealand businesses to expand their presence in the Chinese market, during talks in Beijing with Gerry Brownlee, speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said that both countries should respect each other's core interests and major concerns. He also called for closer people-to-people exchanges, greater local-level engagement and stronger coordination within multilateral frameworks.

Brownlee said that New Zealand adheres to the one-China policy and that members of the delegation from across New Zealand's political parties all support further dialogue with China.

Vice-premier to visit Turkmenistan, attend gas field groundbreaking

As the special representative of President Xi Jinping, Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang will visit Turkmenistan and attend the groundbreaking of the fourth phase of the Galkynysh gas field from Wednesday to Friday, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced on Monday.

While in Turkmenistan, Ding will jointly chair the seventh meeting of the Chinese-Turkmen intergovernmental cooperation committee as the Chinese co-chair.
