China reiterates support for workers' rights, ties with Brazil

China said on Monday that it attaches great importance to protecting the lawful rights and interests of workers and consistently requires Chinese-funded enterprises to operate in accordance with laws and regulations.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular news briefing when asked to comment on reports that a Brazilian court has issued an injunction removing Chinese automaker BYD from a government list of ‌firms accused of employing workers in slavery-like conditions.

China stands ready to continue working with Brazil, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, to strengthen exchanges and cooperation across various fields, Guo added.
