China has congratulated Hungary's Tisza Party, led by Peter Magyar, on its victory in the country's latest parliamentary election, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said China attaches great importance to the development of China-Hungary relations and is ready to work with Hungary's new government on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit to enhance political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation and increase people-to-people exchanges for the benefit of the two peoples.

In Sunday's parliamentary elections, the Tisza Party defeated Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's ruling coalition, with Magyar declaring victory after the vote and Orban conceding defeat and congratulating his opponent.
