Nation's macro policies reap rewards despite headwinds
Premier Li Qiang presided over a symposium on Friday attended by economic experts and entrepreneurs, during which he listened to their opinions and suggestions regarding the current economic situation and upcoming economic work.
Participants said that China's economy got off to a good start in the first quarter, with multiple indicators outperforming expectations. Although external shocks have posed challenges to economic performance, macro policies have been introduced in a timely and effective manner, and new growth drivers for high-quality development have continued to emerge and strengthen.
Li stressed the importance of gaining a deep understanding of the internal drivers underpinning China's steady and improving economic performance. He called for thorough analysis of future trends in the international economic and trade landscape, and emphasized the need to handle all kinds of risks and challenges calmly.
He said that efforts should be made to promote the high-quality and efficient development of the service sector.
Li also expressed hope that entrepreneurs will stay focused on their sectors and make their enterprises stronger, so as to make greater contributions to innovation-driven development, employment and income growth.
