Photographers from Ji'an, Jilin province, recently captured images of a flock of Chinese mergansers on the Yalu River in the city's Maxian township.

They were recorded dancing gracefully in the sky and wandering elegantly along the riverbank.

Chinese mergansers are recognized as a national first-level protected animal and also classified as an endangered species on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, earning them the nickname "living fossils".
