How to get there: Driving or taking a scenic-area shuttle bus from downtown Datong to the Xuankong Temple takes around an hour and a half.

When to visit: Spring and autumn.

How to enter: Entry to the scenic area is 15 yuan ($2.15) for adults and 8 yuan for children. To visit the temple, tickets are 100 yuan per adult and 50 yuan for children ages 6 to 18.

While tickets are available on-site, it is recommended that they be purchased in advance through the WeChat mini-program Beiyue Yunyou, as they may sell out.
