List of newly elected lawmakers revealed

Vietnam's National Election Council released the official list of 500 elected members of the 16th National Assembly on Saturday, the Vietnam News Agency reported. Polls opened nationwide on March 15 for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly, which drew nearly 76.2 million voters, or 99.7 percent turnout, the state-owned media outlet said. As Vietnam's highest organ of state power, the 16th National Assembly is projected to convene its first session starting April 6.

Hawaii sees worst flooding in 20 years

Hawaii officials urged people in the hard-hit areas to evacuate on Saturday because of the state's worst flooding in more than 20 years, after heavy rains fell on soil already saturated by downpours from a winter storm a week ago. Raging waters lifted homes and cars and prompted evacuation orders for 5,500 people north of Honolulu, though they were later lifted. Authorities cautioned that a 120-year-old dam could fail.
