FM: Creating a shared future for humanity a joint effort
Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China's vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity is intended to show that humanity's true enemies are not each other, but war, poverty, hunger, and injustice.
Such challenges cannot be defeated by any country fighting alone, nor can anyone stay untouched by seeking to look after only itself, Wang said, adding that only solidarity, cooperation, and joint progress can provide the answer.
He made the remarks on Sunday at a press conference on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, China's top legislature, when asked why Chinese diplomacy continues to take the building of a community with a shared future for humanity as its goal amid rising global tensions and intensifying rivalries.
"Throughout history, even in the darkest times, there have always been those who never stopped chasing ideals and light," he said.
Wang noted that the truth and value of the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity are sinking in with people around the world.
"It's like a beacon lighting the way forward for humanity," he said, adding that the vision is also a historic process that requires the united efforts of many generations.
