She started writing at 30 years old, learned Mandarin at 36, and wore out 13 phones writing a million words over a decade. This is Ma Huijuan, a "resilient woman" from Xihaigu of Ningxia Hui autonomous region — an area once classified as "uninhabitable". Relocated to Hongsibu, Ma went from being a farmer to becoming a writer, and now serves as a deputy to the National People's Congress.
