Xi's discourses on correct understanding of governance performance published

A compilation of excerpts from discourses on establishing and practicing a correct understanding of what it means to perform well, by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has been published by the Central Party Literature Press.

The book, featuring seven themes, brings together 253 excerpts from over 150 important documents, including reports, speeches, letters, instructions and directives by Xi between November 2012 and January this year. Some of these excerpts are made public for the first time.

A Party-wide campaign, running from late February to July, has been launched to guide CPC members, especially officials, in establishing and practicing a correct understanding of what it means to perform well.

According to a meeting of the Central Leading Group for Party Building held in Beijing on Tuesday, the campaign is of great significance for advancing the cause of the Party and the country, as well as for furthering full and rigorous Party self-governance.

Premier chairs State Council executive meeting

Premier Li Qiang presided over a State Council executive meeting on Tuesday, calling on government departments to roll out more targeted policy measures to further invigorate market vitality and improve people's well-being.

This year marks the opening of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period. Efforts should be made to support local governments and enterprises in fostering new growth drivers, the meeting stressed.

It studied measures to advance the silver economy and elderly care services, noting the sector's vast potential.

The meeting reviewed and adopted a guideline on strengthening primary-level firefighting work.

It also discussed and in principle adopted a draft revision of law on water, and decided that the draft should be submitted for deliberation to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature.
