Beijing and Moscow hold consultation

China and Russia held a new round of strategic stability consultation in Beijing on Tuesday. The meeting was cochaired by Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov. The two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on the current situation of global strategic stability and multilateral arms control, reaching a broad consensus. They agreed that China and Russia, both permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, will continue to enhance strategic coordination, firmly uphold multilateralism and actively safeguard the authority and effectiveness of international arms control treaties and mechanisms, in a joint effort to uphold global strategic stability and promote world peace and security.

Communications with US confirmed

Cuba told AFP that it was in communication with Washington but had not yet entered formal talks to end the pressure campaign on the island nation."Today we cannot talk about having dialogue with the United States, but it is true that there have been communications between the two governments," Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio said in an interview on Monday. US President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed his administration was in talks with "the highest people" in Cuba and that he expected to "make a deal" with its leadership, without saying what it would entail. De Cossio repeated that Havana was "open to dialogue" with the US amid calls from Cubans for the government to negotiate and avert a humanitarian crisis.

Chinese tourists soar to 6-year high

Indonesia recorded a surge in Chinese visitors last year, with arrivals climbing to 1.34 million throughout 2025, the highest level in the past six years, Statistics Indonesia said on Monday. Chinese arrivals stood at 1.19 million in 2024 and 790,000 in 2023, indicating a continued rebound in travel. In 2025, Chinese tourists were the fourth-largest source of international visitors to Indonesia, accounting for 8.7 percent, after Malaysia, Australia and Singapore, according to the official agency. Bali and Jakarta were their top destinations, recording 536,813 and 504,146 trips respectively, followed by North Sumatra, Batam and Surabaya.
