China says it firmly supports Cuba

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Friday that the government firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, and opposing external interference.

He made the remarks at a daily news briefing, in response to an executive order signed by the United States President Donald Trump on Thursday, which threatens to impose tariffs on countries that sell oil to Cuba.

China resolutely opposes actions and inhumane practices that deprive the Cuban people of their right to subsistence and development, he added.
