Every Tuesday night, a coffee shop in Chongqing Tiandi, a bustling urban complex in Chongqing's Yuzhong district, transforms into a crossroad of cultural exchange as Paul Jackson hosts an English practice group. Jackson and three others launched Maple Chili English in March last year.

The event has found a following; its group chat has approximately 500 members coming from diverse backgrounds, including psychologists, lawyers, ophthalmologists, and even fellow expats residing in Chongqing.
