Head-of-state diplomacy irreplaceable for China-US ties: spokesman

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Friday that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable leading role in China-US relations after the United States President Donald Trump said he would visit China in April.

The steady development of China-US relations serves the common interests of the two peoples and meets the shared expectations of the international community, he said at a regular press briefing.

"As for the specific question you mentioned, I have no information to provide at the moment," Guo said when asked to confirm the reported visit, which Trump announced on Thursday.
