China eyes stable growth of ties with US

Beijing is willing to work with Washington to promote the stable development of China-US relations "while firmly safeguarding its own sovereignty, security and development interests", Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.

He made the remarks when asked about the current United States administration's first anniversary since assuming office.

The course of China-US relations over the past year has once again shown that cooperation benefits both sides while confrontation harms both, he said.

"China and the US should explore the right way for two major countries to get along properly on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit," he said.
