Symposium held to seek opinions on draft documents
Premier Li Qiang presided over a symposium on Monday with experts, entrepreneurs and representatives from the education, science, culture, health and sports sectors to solicit opinions on the drafts of the Government Work Report and the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
Participants at the symposium acknowledged China's hard-won achievements in 2025 and noted practical measures taken to maintain stable growth, make structural adjustments and improve people's lives.
Li emphasized that despite the volatile external situation and increasing uncertainties facing this year, the fundamental conditions and long-term positive trends supporting China's economy remain unchanged.
He stressed the importance of leveraging the certainty of high-quality development to address uncertainties in the development environment.
The two drafts have been distributed to various regions and departments to gather opinions and suggestions.
Top legislator meets with Pakistani speaker
Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, has called for joint efforts with Pakistan to accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, while meeting on Monday in Beijing with Pakistan's National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
The top legislator emphasized that the NPC stands ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the National Assembly of Pakistan and deepen the exchange of experiences in legislation, supervision and other areas, in order to provide legal protection for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the Belt and Road Initiative.
Sadiq said the ironclad friendship between Pakistan and China has stood the test of time, highlighting the strategic importance of the bilateral relationship.
Pakistan firmly supports China's positions on issues concerning its core interests and major concerns, and is willing to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields, he added.
