TEHRAN -- The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani on Friday warned the United States against interfering in Iran's internal affairs, saying such actions would disrupt regional stability and harm US interests.

Larijani's remarks came hours after US President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post that the United States is ready to take action if Iran "kills peaceful protesters."

The behind-the-scenes circumstances of the recent protests in Iran were linked to statements by Israeli officials and the US president, said Larijani.

He said Iran distinguishes between protesting business owners and those engaged in vandalism and destructive acts, warning that US interference would amount to disrupting the region and harming Washington's own interests.

He added that the current risky course had been initiated by Trump, urging Americans to "keep an eye on their soldiers."

At least three people were killed and 13 security personnel were wounded in clashes during protests in two Iranian provinces over the past 24 hours, Iranian media reported Thursday.
