Some in the West have argued that China's move in Hainan is just a way to bypass the US tariffs. But according to Zhou Mi, a senior researcher at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, this interpretation is misleading. "China will never just care about other countries' attitudes. We are just trying to stick to what we believe is the right thing for us," said Zhou.
