GDPS 2025: Where embodied intelligence faces real-world tests
Global Developer Pioneers Summit 2025, which will include the world's first embodied intelligence skills contest referring to the criteria adopted at the WorldSkills Competition, will be held in Shanghai from Dec 12 to 14.
Held for 47 editions so far, the WorldSkills Competition is a biennial event aiming to promote premier vocational skills and cutting-edge industry standards across various professional fields.
Therefore, apart from embodied intelligence experts and artificial intelligence professionals, human skills veterans will be present at the referee's seat at this year's GDPS.
While traditional robot contests usually focus on metrics such as model generalization, algorithm robustness, and millisecond-level response speed, GDPS 2025 will challenge whether the robots have truly comprehended the physical world, according to the organizer.
The contest will span six major areas of industrial manufacturing, social services, home services, emergency rescue, healthcare, and key parts production. World's top labs, renowned unicorn companies, and smaller geek teams will take part in the contest.
The contest will provide special technology and parts support on site, including dexterous robotic arms, advanced sensors, and high-precision gear reducers.
To add a more festive vibe, the organizer has included special performances in this year's GDPS, including a robots' calligraphy show, a music show, and soccer games among robots.
According to experts from the Shanghai AI Industry Association, the summit aims to test whether "silicon-based life" can be truly integrated into human production and daily life.
