Sri Lanka set for China Culture Day wushu event
Hosted by China's embassy in Sri Lanka and organized by the Wushu Federation of Sri Lanka, a special China Culture Day wushu performance is scheduled for the evening of Dec 3 at the Elphinstone Theatre in Colombo.
The event will showcase the unique charm of traditional Chinese martial arts through professional wushu performances, adding a new highlight to cultural exchanges between China and Sri Lanka.
The performance will highlight over 20 spectacular programs, including traditional Chen-style tai chi, weapon demonstrations such as nine-section whip, broadsword, and cudgel, and distinctive fist styles, including Drunken Fist, Tiger Fist, Monkey Fist, and Praying Mantis Fist.
The event will also feature diverse performances, such as sanda demonstrations and tai chi fan routines.
This event represents a concentrated showcase of Chinese wushu in Sri Lanka, according to the embassy.
Through traditional Chinese martial arts, the showcase aims to deepen cultural exchanges between the two nations, it said in a statement.
The performance not only demonstrates the unique charm of Chinese martial arts, blending strength and grace, but also reflects the Sri Lankan people's enthusiasm for and preservation of traditional Chinese culture, it added.
