Educators call for creativity in the age of AI

Amid the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence, Chinese educators should explore new methods to cultivate talent suited to a future shaped by emerging technologies, according to insiders at the recently concluded 3rd Jingshi Cup Aesthetic Education Festival in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.

Held alongside a forum themed on integrating digital technology with traditional humanities education, the events were organized by Beijing Normal University to provide a high-level platform for educators from across the country.

Gao Hong, head of the National Aesthetic Education Teaching Guidance Committee for Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education, suggested that schools establish a comprehensive system enabling students to discover aesthetics in nature, art, technology, daily life, and social activities.

Noting that educators are increasingly discussing how teachers should guide students in an AI-driven era, Gao said the key lies in integrating aesthetic education with academic knowledge, helping students remain creative while also acquiring the expertise needed to face complex future challenges.

Additionally, the festival held a ceremony to announce it will be collaborating with the Edinburgh Art Festival, the largest annual visual arts festival in the United Kingdom, to boost international exchanges.
