Netherlands should do more on Nexperia

After two days of talks in Beijing, the Dutch government announced it would return control of Nexperia to its Chinese parent company, Wingtech Technology. But as China's Ministry of Commerce put it, this is a positive first step, but far from a full solution.

In fact, the Dutch move is only a pause, not a full revocation. More importantly, the court ruling that stripped Wingtech of effective managerial control still stands. Yet the Dutch side is acting as if it deserves applause.

So let's set the record straight. The root cause of this mess lies with the Netherlands. It politicized and weaponized a commercial dispute, undermined the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain, and sidelined its own national interests to bow to pressure from Washington.

If the Netherlands truly wants to resolve this issue, it needs to stop posturing and start undoing the damage it caused.
