Urumqi hosts 2025 Xinjiang Entrepreneurs Convention
Urumqi hosted the 2025 Xinjiang Entrepreneurs Convention from Monday to Tuesday, bringing together business leaders and investors to discuss new projects and assess the region's investment climate.
The two-day gathering drew entrepreneurs with Xinjiang ties from around the country and abroad, along with executives from major Chinese companies and centrally administered State-owned enterprises. Representatives from national business associations linked to Xinjiang also attended.
Organizers included the regional united front authorities, commerce departments, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. Their program focused on meetings between companies, investment briefings, and on-site visits.
One outcome was the creation of a national alliance of Xinjiang entrepreneurs. Officials also announced the signing of 20 cooperation projects worth 45 billion yuan ($6.33 billion) in sectors including energy technology, advanced manufacturing, new materials, tourism, and logistics.
At an investment promotion session on Tuesday, Li Xuan, secretary of the leading Party members group of Xinjiang's department of commerce, said the region has introduced measures in recent years to widen market access, strengthen legal protections, and lower operating costs for companies.
According to official data, investment arriving from outside Xinjiang reached 935.52 billion yuan in 2024, up from 723.47 billion yuan in 2022. Authorities reported that more than 4,200 projects were carried out across the region between January and October, drawing 963.24 billion yuan in funding, a 17.9 percent year-on-year increase.
