At least 37 dead in road accident in southern Peru

LIMA -- At least 37 people were killed and several others injured Wednesday when an interprovincial bus veered off the road and plunged into a ravine in Peru's southern Arequipa region, local media reported.
Radio Programas del Peru said the accident occurred along the South Pan-American Highway after the bus collided with a truck and fell into a ravine.
Firefighters, police and emergency crews are working to rescue the injured and transport them to nearby hospitals.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash.
