On Nov 3, the State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company successfully applied its self-developed phase II digital intelligent control module for distribution network protection to complete the remote parameter downloading operation for the Shilifeng line in Xiaonanhai town, Longyou county. This milestone marks the company's transition into a new 2.0 era of refined management for distribution network protection, providing a stronger technical foundation for safe and stable grid operations.

As the terminal network directly serving end users, the reliability of distribution network protection systems is vital. With the ongoing intelligent transformation of distribution switches, traditional manual parameter setting methods can no longer meet the increasing demand for flexibility and real-time adaptation. In response, the Quzhou Power Supply Company built upon its phase I foundation, deeply integrating the next-generation dispatch support system, distribution automation system, and other key platforms. The company independently developed the phase II module to address major challenges such as the frequent changes of distribution equipment and lack of effective tools for large-scale data verification.

"This module introduces an innovative 'red-map' setting mechanism, which allows real-time extraction of graphic model data directly from the dispatch system for online verification and parameter configuration," said a company engineer. "It forms an integrated protection framework covering all operational states of distribution switches."

The system supports multi-state perception, highly integrated data, and efficient full-process coordination, enabling parameter configuration for changing equipment in advance and ensuring synchronized commissioning of primary and secondary devices. It also features remote parameter downloading, reducing execution time to mere minutes while minimizing human error and improving both operational efficiency and control accuracy in complex scenarios. Additionally, the online parameter retrieval function enables real-time verification, supported by a comprehensive protection database that provides data for rational configuration analysis—shifting the approach from reactive correction to proactive management.

The deployment of the phase II digital control module effectively resolves long-standing issues in equipment change review, parameter execution efficiency, and information silos. It represents a significant step toward the digital and intelligent transformation of distribution network protection management.

Looking ahead, the State Grid Quzhou Power Supply Company plans to deepen system application, enhance self-evaluation of protection performance, and develop an online management module for grid-connected plants and distributed PV stations, further strengthening the reliability and intelligence of the regional power distribution network.
